Big Tech organizations like Alphabet (the parent company of Google and YouTube), Meta (parent company of Facebook, Threads, and Instagram) are using their size and their strength to seize control of information, to set the tone of interpretation, and to strong-arm influencers into compliance through financial extortion and relevancy sabotage.
News organizations and businesses (small and big alike) rely on Google, YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, Amazon and other platforms to reach people, to inform people, and to support themselves. These parent companies are actively working (they have been for years) to control what and how far information is distributed. Voices that align with their worldview and values brought to the surface and made viral while those that refuse to adopt their ideology are buried and by extinction bankrupted. It’s easy to eliminate the competition when you control the platform.
What It Tells Us
There is a war in our world today. That isn’t anything new to us. We know that. And yes, there is indeed a war in our world between that which is good and that which is evil, but there is also a war in our day between TRUTH and OPINION. What we need is truth, but what we are most often given is opinion. Now, I’m not against either. Truth is available and truth is essential. Opinions also abound and while opinions can be helpful, they can also be very hurtful. What makes the difference is upon which they are formed, which means that we must always consider the source. It is a process that requires HONESTY, HUMILITY, and HARD-WORK. One of the truths that the Bible clearly presents about the last days is that people won’t be people of truth, not because the truth isn’t present, but rather because truth isn’t pursued.
Isaiah 59:12-15 says, “For our transgressions are multiplied before thee, and our sins testify against us: for our transgressions are with us; and as for our iniquities, we know them; In transgressing and lying against the LORD, and departing away from our God, speaking oppression and revolt, conceiving and uttering from the heart words of falsehood. And judgment is turned away backward, and justice standeth afar off: for truth is fallen in the street, and equity cannot enter. Yea, truth faileth; and he that departeth from evil maketh himself a prey: and the LORD saw it, and it displeased him that there was no judgment.”
